guidelines for migration of intern from one hospital to another hospital for the purpose of internship

1)   All Institution approved by Pharmacy Council for conduct of Pharm. D/ Pharm. D (Post Baccalaureate) course.

      2)   All Examining Authorities for the conduct of Pharm. D and Pharm. D (P.B) examinations.




Sir/Madam,

With reference to the subject cited above. I am directed to inform that the 89th Central Council of Pharmacy Council of India in its meeting held in April, 2012 has approved the following guidelines for migration of intern from one hospital to another hospital for the purpose of internship –

1.   Migration from one hospital to other is not a right of a intern. However, migration of intern from one hospital to another hospital in India may be considered subject to fulfillment of the following conditions -
a)   Migration of intern from one hospital to other can be done only under specific  conditions like transfer of parents, sickness etc. for which documentary evidence         shall be submitted.

b)   The migration of intern from one hospital to another hospital is for the specific  purpose of internship  only.

c)   Both hospitals i.e. one at which the intern is taking training at present and one, to which migration is sought, should be recognized by the PCI.

d)   The total number of interns which can be migrated between the relieving and receiving hospital shall not exceed 10% of the total approved intake of both  Pharm.D. and Pharm.D (Post Baccalaureate) courses.

e)   The following permission / NOC is required for the migration of intern –


            i)    NOC of both the institutions.
            ii)   NOC of the concerned Universities.
            iii)  NOC of the relieving hospital.
            iv)  NOC of the receiving hospital.

2.   All the requests/applications for migration shall be referred to University/Examining Authority by the college authorities.  The University/Examining Authority shall be authorised to approve migration under     intimation to PCI, based on the Council’s above guidelines.

3.   It is mandatory for the both institutions (i.e. relieving and receiving institution) to intimate about such migration to PCI within one month of the migration.
