Grievance Description :
Dear prime minister, This very serious issue was going on in the country for the Doctor of pharmacy (Pharm.D) (Six years course) graduate students. These students spending their valuable time and money to work for better patient care for our country. However, once a qualified Doctor of pharmacy graduate comes from the college/university to work for the patient there was no job opportunity created for these students. In abroad these students work as a clinical pharmacist and they have to approve a prescription even a physician had prescribed. These students have to analyse the prescription and check for any drug interactions and any other issues related to the prescription. In our country, we
have resources (Doctor of pharmacy graduates) but they do not have the opportunity to serve for the nation. Because of
the poly-medication and under knowledge there was huge drug resistance, which was more vulnerable for future
generations. It was strange that the Doctor of pharmacy been published in the gazette in 2008 but still the Ministry of
health and recruiting team government of India was unaware regarding this course. The Doctor of pharmacy students
and graduates are fighting for their rights. In addition, I would like to specify that Doctor of pharmacy graduates have
better knowledge regarding the pharmacology and pharmacotherapeutics compared to RMPs and unlicensed
practitioner in the cities and villages. I would like to bring to your notice that, even for the notifications and circulars generated by the recruiting and HR team they prefer only D.pharm (Diploma in pharmacy) (2 years). My question to
you was when a highly qualified graduate like Doctor of Pharmacy was available to serve the nation then why these
candidates was recruited where they cannot completely analyze and prescribe or dispense the medications. Hence, I
request the ministry of health and family welfare and government of India to consider this as a very serious emergency
issue and start recruiting the Doctor of pharmacy students as clinical pharmacists in the government hospitals as other
health care centres.
Jai hind
Yours obediently
Dr. Faiz Ibrahim Mohammad Pharm.D
